These mosaic courses on the "Workshops" page are designed for mosaic enthusiasts with an intermediate and advanced level of knowledge, and who do not manage any economic activity in the field of mosaic.These courses are dedicated to those who already know how to use the traditional technique with hammer and hardie and who want to deepen a specific technique or subject.

How can I buy a course?

No registration is required to purchase a course on my site.You can choose the most suitable course for you in the “Workshops” page, and choose the dates in the drop-down menu under the course description.Through the "Add to cart" / "Buy now" button this will be loaded into the "Cart", page where the details of the selected course are summarized and where you can proceed for the "Checkout". Proceeding with the "Checkout" to complete the order, you will be asked for a series of Personal Data necessary to conclude the sales contract for the service: email, name, surname, address, city, country, post code, telephone, payment information ( card number, expiry date, security code). By clicking on "Pay and book your course", the payment and booking of the mosaic course will be made, with the conclusion of the contract. I remind you that payment is secured by SSL Secure Shopping, and in no case will I be able to personally see or receive your debit / credit / prepaid card information.You will receive an email confirming receipt of your order from me with the relevant information and details, which you will need to keep.In case you encounter problems in the payment, I invite you to write me at info@artefactmosaicworkshops.com. What is the payment method?

What is the minimum and maximum number of participants?

The course is activated with the booking of only one person. Up to 4 seats are available for each date.

What do I do if the dates of the courses I want to follow do not coincide with my agenda?

I generally respect the dates published on the site, but if you do not find a date of your preference, contact me at info@artefactmosaicworkshops.com, I will check my calendar and if possible I will try to meet your needs.

What can I do if the technique or subject I would like to learn or create is not on the “Workshops” page?

If you would like to learn a technique not present in my proposals, go to the "Workshops" page, click the "On request" button and fill out the contact form describing the technique you wish to learn or the subject you would like to carry out. What should I bring to the course?

Your good mood and your curiosity!To access the course you will need to bring and show a valid document certifying the complete vaccination against covid 19.Work tools, such as the double widia hammer, tweezers, cutter and apron, will be lent to you for the duration of the course, unless you want to bring your own, but it is not essential.If you want to use your hammer, it must necessarily be in double widia.You will be given safety goggles, and a new ffp2 / KN95 mask every day. Cloth masks or masks without protective certification will not be accepted.If you want you can bring your water bottle and a notepad with pen to take notes.You can bring a snack, but it will not be possible to eat it inside the mosaic studio.Remember that the perception of temperature is different for each of us, so you may have to lighten your clothes or bring a sweater to cover you, because sometimes I will have to open doors and windows to completely change the air, and the outside temperature will depend on the season in which you will come to Venice.

What are the course times?

The course includes 8 hours a day according to these times: in the morning 9-12: 30am and in the afternoon 13: 30-18pm.Lunch is not included in the cost of the course and it is not possible to eat in the mosaic studio.From 12:30 to 13:30 it is not possible to stay in the mosaic studio.

What are the safety rules against Covid 19?

The masters who teach in the mosaic courses have carried out and completed the vaccination cycle for Covid 19, whoever wishes can ask to view it.All participants in the mosaic course are required to show the document certifying the vaccination against Covid 19. It is mandatory for everyone (teachers, students and visitors) to wear the ffp2 / KN95 mask that covers the nose and mouth. The mask must be new each day and will be provided by the mosaic studio. Cloth masks or masks without protective certification will not be accepted. It is mandatory to disinfect your hands at the entrance to the laboratory, before and after using the bathrooms, if you have touched common tools or materials, and periodically throughout the day. It is mandatory to keep an interpersonal distance of 1 meter, except in the strictly necessary moment of some phases of demonstration and teaching of the mosaic technique. It is forbidden to take the course if you have more than 37 degrees of body temperature (to be checked at home personally before arriving at the laboratory), and if you have a cold or other types of flu. Doors and windows will be opened periodically to change the air in the room. It is not possible to eat inside.

What is included in the purchased mosaic course?

- Theoretical and practical mosaic lessons.
- The use of tools (tweezers, cutter, hammer).
- Safety glasses.- Mask ffp2 / KN95 (one new per day, for the course days).
- Materials for making the mosaic (Venetian Smalti and Marbles. Mortar. Gold tiles are not included).
- Mosaic sketch to be chosen from a selection proposed by mosaic studio.- Mosaic made by you during the course.
- Insurance coverage against accidents during the course (as long as you use protective tools such as goggles and closed shoes).

What is not included in the course?

- Gold mosaic tiles. To insert gold tesserae in your mosaic, an explicit request must be made by sending an email to info@artefactmosaicworkshops.com up to 40 days before the start of the course. You will receve a estimate cost which, if accepted, you will have to pay separately and in advance.
- Venetian Smalti or marble of colors not included in the proposed sketch for the chosen mosaic course.
- Food, accommodation, transport are not included.- Insurance coverage in case safety measures are not followed such as wearing safety glasses and closed shoes.
- Custom sketch. To follow the mosaic course with a personalized sketch, an explicit request must be made by sending an email to info@artefactmosaicworkshops.com up to 50 days before the start of the course. If deemed possible, a cost estimate will be proposed which, if accepted, will be paid separately and in advance. Your customized sketch will be carefully evaluated according to the technical requirements, level of difficulty, timing, availability of material, relevance to the course booked. After the evaluation, I reserve the right not to accept a personalized sketch for the following reasons: too large compared to the time of your stay in my mosaic studio, too difficult as it would require too small tiles and a level of professional skill, with a chromatic range that for reasons of order quantity and timing cannot be ordered from the furnace and not present in our laboratory, because it does not relate to the topic of the course held on those dates or other reasons.

What mosaic techniques are taught?

Each teacher is graduated from the school of Spilimbergo (Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli) and we teach all the techniques from the Greek-Roman, Byzantine, Modern to Contemporary.

What is taught in the mosaic course?

Many things!It will start from your level of knowledge to understand what is best to start, or what aspects are to be improved. The lessons are group lessons (not private) and are mainly practical, but I will also provide theoretical teaching.I will give a general view of what mosaic is and what are the fundamental phases to start from a sketch and arrive at a finished mosaic.I will begin by explaining how the tools are used: the hammer, the hardie and the tweezers.How to make many different shapes with the hammer, and how to correct them by chiselling the tile.Will be teach to you how to make and handle the mortar, how to glue the tesserae of your mosaic and the differences between a flat and a rough surface or how to creates volume.I will teach how to follow the sketch, choose colors, make shades, match colors.Will be show to you how to avoid the most common mistakes that make the difference between a hobby and a professional mosaic.I teach how to make the rhythm of your tiles balanced, harmonious and varied and much more!

What happens if I have changed my mind or can no longer attend the course?

I would be so sorry! If you were to cancel a course that has already been paid for and booked, the percentages that I will deduct from the refund of the amount you paid will change depending on when you notify me of your decision. This is because, unfortunately, by reserving you a place in my mosaic studio, I will certainly have renounced other work commitments that will not be able to be recovered quickly after your renunciation. Here are the percentages withheld:- 10% of the amount paid, up to 45 days from the starting date of the mosaic course;- 25% of the amount paid, up to 30 days from the starting date of the mosaic course;- 50% of the amount paid, up to 20 days from the starting date of the mosaic course;- 75% of the amount paid, up to 8 days from the starting date of the mosaic course.
